Koblenz

Today was a travelling day.  These European motorways are fun at 130 kms in the torrential rain!  We got to Koblenz and parked and shortly after that the rain stopped so we spent a few hours looking around. The old town had cobbled squares lined with attractive buildings, rather like Cologne but on a smaller scale.  We looked inside the Leibfrauenkirche, built around 1200 but just admired the outside of several other churches.  Also looked at the Town Hall, built in the 1600s and lots of other interesting old buildings.  After lunch we strolled along beside the river but the rain returned so we beat a retreat and drove on to Heidelberg where we found our airbnb - a basement apartment with bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and lounge.  We walked to the supermarket for supplies and got settled in before the rain returned (thunder and lightning).

We had lots of fun with this group of statues - they had movable arms and hands etc so you could pose them.

Yay!  The rain stopped!

Our cozy airbnb, glad we are not in a tent on this trip!
