We drove from Murchison to the Lewis Pass where we left the bus and back-tracked a few kms in the car to Maruia Springs, which we have never been to before. The complex is being up-graded so entry was reduced but the pools were good - very relaxing...
...although they were busy digging out some more pools beside the existing ones. This one is very hot - I look cooked and felt it too! That water coming up is just about boiling!
There was also an indoor pool in the Japanese bath house with big windows looking out to the mountains
So we decided to stay for lunch. I met a relaxed Santa.
Snow on the mountains at the Lewis Pass so we hooked up the car and continued on to Hanmer Springs.
As soon as we came out of the pools the weather changed to this. When we got to Hanmer we put up the awning, got out the chairs and the drinks and just relaxed all afternoon :-)
