A four hour walk today in the old Aorere Goldfields. The track went past this cave, Staffords...
and this one, the Ballroom Cave. Used by the miners of old apparently
The track went uphill to the dam, mostly through tea tree and this section was raised up with a water race beside
Past the dam was the highest point - we could see across to Farewell Spit and mountains all around in the other directions. From here it was downhill (loop)to the car and back to Collingwood for ice cream.
