Beautiful sunny day so we decided to check out the beaches off the road between Collingwood and Takaka. This is Milnthorpe. You can walk from this estuary along the beach to Collingwood and on the way back detour through Milnthorpe Park (bush reserve) but we just walked up and down the beach.
This structure is a grade up from the usual beach wigwams. It is at Parapara.
We also went to Patons Rock before returning to Collingwood for coffee (plus Malcolm had an enormous slab of carrot cake, reckoned he needed the energy!) - the Courthouse Café.
Then we made a packed lunch and headed for the hills, sand hills that is, on the way to Archway Island Beach...
...where it got a bit windy...
..and we got sandy sandwiches. Great view though.
Finally on to Cape Farewell. We can turn south now.
