More Rail Trail

Smile!  Yes but it's freezing and I'm wondering if it's going to be fun.

Coffee stop, Ranfurly Station

The cloud is clearing

Looks like an old railway shed now a barn

Arty bridge angle

Little railway people

Me in action - I didn't know Malcolm was up there!

That's Malcolm just taken that last photo of me

Couldn't be a better freedom camping spot for the rail trail

Country Life!  The farmer drives a mob past us and across the rail trail

Time to give the bus another wash.  It was 37 degrees inside when we finished!

When we got to Wedderburn this morning we were in a cloud and it was very cold - it obviously took longer to burn off there than where we were on the bus.  We decided to set off anyway and before too long we were in the sun.

Two strange encounters today.  The first, on the trail by the first gangers hut we came to, Malcolm went into the loo and I looked into the hut to read the info and found a man pulling his trousers up!  He had obviously slept there overnight!  'I'm just getting changed,' he said.  Yeah, right, that's why there's a sleeping bag on the floor!

The second guy was at Ranfurly, he had not many teeth and was wheeling a suitcase -  walking off down a dirt road.  'I have to go to Invercargill,' he told us, 'to make fence posts'.

Now we have done all the rail trail except the bit between Alex and Clyde which we plan to do tomorrow.  Now we are back under the willows by the river where we were when we started the trail.  29 in the shade at 7.00pm!
