Exploring Portugal

A very interesting day driving through Portugal today. First we visited Bom Jesus do Monte, a church at the top of 116 metres of steps. The inside of the church was amazing. Then nearby we visited Citania de briteiros, an iron age hill fort (excavated, with two houses reconstructed). Nearby was the associated museum, this was the home of the archeologist who gifted it. He also bought the hill fort site to preserve it. It was hugely extensive, bigger than anything we've seen before. When we got to Porto we were early for our airbnb so passed time in a nearby bar where we met a local who lives in England who got the barman to give us a plate of tapas (see photo). He said if we go back for dinner tell the barman (who doesn't speak English) to phone him and he'll explain the menu Several wines later we are in our airbnb, it is a really lovely place. The owner spent half an hour with a map telling us where we should go tomorrow. we have found the Portuguese people extremely kind and helpful.
