Aviero and Leiria

A lovely relaxing day today. We drove to Aviero, a small town in a tidal lagoon with canals. We took a boat ride, the boats were originally for carrying seaweed (for compost). Quite Venice-like. We are staying in an apartment in Leiria, a nice little town. We walked around by the river and through the old quarter this evening. An old lady stopped us because she thought we were lost and we had a conversation. She hoped we liked her town. We said we did. Don't think she knew where New Zealand was.

Some of the tiles we've photographed on buildings - they decorate many both grand and small.

malcolm lost his hat, left it in a bar somewhere so he got a new one from this hat shop.

This mural is made from recycled materials - plastic, pipes, bits of car...

Lots of murals in this town
