Mullumbimby to Tweed Heads

We drove north beside the coast.  We stopped at a few places to have a look.  Nothing special about this beach until...

...we walked back along this sandy path to the car - and saw a large snake just crossing the track.  The back metre at any rate.  It was quite a big snake :-)

So we headed to the nearest cafe for coffee and cake to calm our nerves!

At Tweed Heads we did the 'Walk on Water Track' from opposite our motel.  It was a loop walk, through mangroves and bush with information about the aboriginal people who once lived there.

Malcolm inspects the paper bark from the paperbark tree.

Pelicans hanging out by the river.

Later we drove up the Fingal Head peninsula to the lighthouse.

There were basalt pillars, whales in the distance and pods of dolphins frolicking nearby.
