Kawarau River Ride

We have spent a few days in Cromwell.  We got these giant cherries from our friends who are working in a cherry orchard.

Today we cycled part of the Queenstown cycle trails - this is the Gibbston River Trail.  It goes beside the Kawarau River past vineyards to the Kawarau Bridge where they do the bungy jumping.  This is the start.

There were great views along the way but it was VERY windy.  I could hardly push the bike in some sections.

It was only 8.7km but seemed much longer.  The track was smooth and would have been a 10 out of 10 except for the wind.

No I am not going bungy jumping - heading for a coffee and a brownie.  The ride back was great, mainly downhill and with the wind behind us we flew home.
