Yay - Summer! Tiki tour north today - to the Hokianga. First stop Koutu Boulders, like the Moeraki ones but bigger. And in such a beautiful place (near Omapere). Lunch at Rawene, the Boatshed Cafe, always love it there. Finally Wairere Boulders, near Horeke. A lovely bush walk amongst uniquely fluted boulders.

We wanted to visit Clendon House, built in the 1860s and maintained by heritage New Zealand, but unfortunately it wasn't open...
...so we continued on to the Wairere Boulders, which are massive rocks, fluted by acid rain that has dripped through the kauri trees that once grew in the valley. now there are walkways, over, through and around the rocks. Also lots of quirky signs and painted animals...
