Wanderings through Spain - More Madrid

Madrid day 2 - 8 hours walking! Plaza Mayor (main square) was deserted at 8.30, crowded with tables, artists and tourists by 3.00 pm when we walked back that way. We spent 2 hours in the Prado art gallery, which is massive - you could spend 2 days there. Next was Retiro Gardens then lunch at Place de Santa Ana, with jazz musicians busking. Finally we went down by the river where we got views of the Cathedral and Palace from the opposite side to yesterday. Sore legs!

Retiro Gardens, with bagpipers ...

...and a crystal palace, some trees starting to look autumnal

Then we found this whole road of book stalls, unfortunately all in Spanish :-(

Lunch at Santa Ana square, complete with jazz buskers

Sculpture everywhere
