After five months sitting on the drive - loss of cof and being unable to get an engineer to help with remedying the situation - the bus finally got legal again and we headed off for a quick trip. We drove south on SH16, turned at Helensville and made our way up the peninsula that leads to the Kaipara South Head. First stop MacNut Cafe and macadamia orchard.
Happy to be on the road again
We continued to Shelly Beach, a quiet corner of the Kaipara.
We had lunch at the cafe at Shelly Beach with this lovely view.
Overnight parking spot at Parakai, beside the hot pools, where we headed for a soak.
The parking area is part of a reserve full of mature trees, like these oaks.
The next morning we headed into Helensville and walked beside the river.
Then it was time to head home. We parked at a viewing spot on SH16 for a cuppa with a view.
