More Maungatapere

Back at Maungatapere Malcolm and I visited the Packard Motor Museum. The guide insisted we had our photos taken in this car. :-)

The museum is home to over 50 Packard cars, 65 classic motorbikes, other cars, trucks, fire engines, steam and traction engines...

Vehicles old and rusty as well as the shiny ones.

In shed 4 (of 5) there were mannequins that were dressed t reflect the era of the cars.

Not forgetting the world famous potato masher collection.

State highway 15

I went with a group of friends(not in the bus)along SH15 from Maungatapere to Kaikohe. first stop was land of the Lotus. Owner Hugh gave us an hour tour of the plants (lotus, bananas, pineapples and more)assisted by poppy the pup.

The weather was showery but not too wet...

There are walking tracks here too but that will have to wait for another time.
Further along the road we called in to the Green Footed kiwi - a dahlia business started by some home schooled kids. here we got coffee and cake and some of us bought dahlias.

Some of the gang enjoying a tea and coffee break.  By the time we were here the sun had come out and the showers had disappeared. A couple of interesting places on the road.
