Eight of us went over to Dargaville the other day for a trip on the rail carts. First we had coffee at Blah Blah Blah then we were set to go...
Four people in each cart and Dave and John, our guides, in the lead cart.
The day was cool and it had rained on the way to Dargaville but luckily the sun came out.
These guys all wanted a turn driving!
The disused rail line took us through farmland and beside the Wairoa River, through tunnels and over bridges.
At the end of the line we stopped for tea, coffee and scones...
...also blackberry picking.
Then we headed back. On the return journey the guys went in one cart and the girls in the other. Unfortunately, the guy's one broke down and Dave and John had to tow them.
The trip took two and a half hours. It was hot and sunny when we got back so grabbed takeaways for lunch and sat by the river to eat. A fun and interesting outing.
