Redcliffe Market

This morning we spent a few hours at Redcliffe Markets. In the afternoon I walked back to Deception Bay and went even further around the bay, about 2 and 1/2 hours walk.

Bribie Island and bats

Today we went to Bribie Island, one of the large sand islands in Moreton Bay.  We walked beside the Pumicestone Passage (the water that separates the island from the mainland). Views of the Glasshouse Mountains in the distance.

Then in the afternoon we went to Redcliffe Botanical Gardens where there are over 1,000 bats, hanging from trees and flying around.

Dozens of Ibis were coming to roost too

Australia

We are in Australia, staying just north of Brisbane where Malcolm is building a carport for his daughter.  We are acclimatizing to the warmer weather.  Today I went for a walk along a cycleway/walkway from the end of our road, through a series of parks, past wetlands and beaches to Deception Bay.  Loving the gum trees and other Australian flora, the birds and the architecture.
Saw lots of gums and other Aussie trees - paperbark?...

... and quite a few of these Queensland-style houses
