Even more local stuff

One sunny morning this week I went for a walk to A H Reed park, a half hour walk from home.  At the entrance is a recently installed footwear cleaner to help prevent the spread of kauri dieback.

One of the pongas beside the track famously looks like a bear.

Lots of lovely healthy kauri...

...and new steps that lead to a viewing platform - with the view of this waterfall, Reed Falls.

The bush looked very pretty, even though it is winter.

This morning (Saturday) was a beautiful cold but sunny winter's day.  I went to check out the market etc at the Matariki Festival at the Town Basin.

More Local Stuff

We had some clear, sunny, winter days last week so one day we went on a ealk through the Quarry gardens, up to the Coronation Reserve, then down to the Quarry Arts Centre.  Walking back through town we hooked into the new cycle track.
